Venues: City of Coventry Stadium, Hampden Park, Millennium Stadium, Old Trafford, St James’ park, Wembley Stadium.

Medal Events: 2 (one men, one women)
Athletes: 228 men and 216 women
At London 2012 the men’s and women’s competitions begin with a first stage, the 16 men’s and the 12 women’s teams are split in to 4 groups (4 in the men’s, 3 in the women’s). Each team plays every other team in their group. You get 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a lose.
The best 8 teams qualify for the quarter final. In the men’s competition it is the top 2 teams from each group. In the women’s competition it is the top 2 from each group going through to the knock out stages.
In the knockout matches the losers of the semi-finals play for a bronze medal, the winners of the semi-finals will play for a gold medal.
